PM Announces Salary Increase for Civil Servants for 2022

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has announced that civil servants will finally have their salaries increased in 2022, after not receiving any raises for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the Prime Minister, doctors and teachers will receive a minimum salary of 1.5 million riel, while other officials will receive a minimum salary of 1.4 million riel.

At the same time, he also told the Minister of Economy to raise the tax ceiling, meaning that those with a salary below 1.5 million riel will not be taxed.

Prime Minister Hun Sen made this announcement at the Closing Ceremony of the 2020-2021 and Start of the 2022 Training Courses of the Royal School of Administration on Monday morning, 11 June 2022.
